WHAT'S COMING UP-100 COUNTRIES BEFORE I'M 50 CHALLENGE

What's coming up in the Challenge???

This challenge actually came about after my trip to Japan. Whilst there I met 2 people who had been to over 100 countries and I thought that sounded like absolute bliss to me.

When I returned from Japan I put together a provisional plan. I also started to look at what would fit in with my school holidays and which countries Mr Sft and I wanted to visit together. I will post about that another day.

I got busy and booked my next country: Malta and went to Malta and Gozo (the nearby island) in May for a week. A fantastic country, rich in History and beautiful scenery in Gozo.

Then I finally booked my trip to Russia! It had been on my mind to visit for a number of years. And I didn't regret it.

I will blog about my trips to both Malta and Russia another day. There is so much to share. Also I will blog about Japan one of the most amazing countries ever. I loved, loved, loved it there! Not cheap but worth every penny.

SO what is coming up??-the key to my challenge is to make sure I get a good flavour of each country I visit. To at least have a memorable travel experience.

October 2014-Morocco!

The reason I'm going?

1. Well Morocco is in North Africa and I love the feel of this part of the continent. I have been to Egypt twice and loved it.

2. Next I will get to travel in public transport. I would always chose a bus or train over riding around in a mini-bus. I love getting out with the locals. It certainly is exhilarating!

3. Also I want to see the cities of Tangier, Fes, Rabat-exploring Tangier's port, Fes' Medina and the history of Rabat.

4. And spend time in the mountains at Chefchaouen-enjoying beautiful scenery.

5. Finally visiting Marrakech-spending time in Diemma-el-Fna Square has to be done! Souks and shopping galore!

  • Have you ever been to Morocco or North Africa?
  • Is it on or off your dream list?

  1. Sounds like it will be a wonderful trip. Yes, Morocco is on our list as well as other parts of North Africa. First though we want to explore Central and South America. There is just way too much to see but we are going to try our best to see and experience as much as we can while we can.

Look forward to hearing about Japan, Malta and Russia.

    1. I am sooooo looking forward to it Ruth and it fits snuggly into my next school holiday. I will also enjoy the sunshine and light as we will be approaching winter in England by then.

I am really looking forward to hearing about your ideas for Central and South America. I have visited a lot of Central but none of the South. Although it is booked for next year :)

I think you are right about travel and new places-so much to see and you will never see it all. It always leaves you wanting more :)

    1. I actually think that there is something quite magical about North African countries. I think Morocco will seem quite exotic and different. I will be armed with my camera! I'm sure there will be a great photo around every corner.

  3. I can understand your plan and I know you will do it. This is not something I could ever achieve. Firstly Australia is huge and I have a lot left to explore and I shall do a chunk in November and secondly I have a medical condition that makes long distance flying dangerous. I have also started late.

I can assure you, however, that when I hit the Northern Hemisphere I will be milking it for every experience possible. This morning I was sent a Cunard catalogue. Oh how I wish I could take six months to travel by ship. This is relaxing and i would enjoy it.

    1. I hope to do it Suze. It is such a wonderful opportunity although I can't go away for too long due to the family.
I have a friend who moved to Australia and she has told me Australia has everything she needs travel wise. As you say so much to explore.
What are you looking forward to most about November?
When I meet folk from Australia and New Zealand in Europe they certainly make the most of every travel opportunity. Many don't know when they will be heading back her again. They probably have seen more of Europe than the average Brit!

      Take care

    2. We will fly to Sydney and board the Indian Pacific. We will on do half the trip and leave to stay in Adelaide for four days. I have never been there and am looking forward to exploring the wine region and Kangaroo Island. Next it is time to board the Radiance of the Seas and we sail to Melbourne and around the doth island of N. Z.

    5. Hi Suze

Hope you have a great time in Adelaide. Touring the wine region is definitely the way to go - I don't feel that the city has a lot to offer but the Barossa is absolutely beautiful. I've never been to Kangaroo Island but it's on my list! When SFT comes to Australia, we should all meet up! I'm happy to travel to do that :)

  4. I've been to Morocco and the scenery in the Atlas Mountains is breathtaking. I haven't travelled much but it has to be amongst of the best views I ever seen. We are thinking of going back to Marrakech in January too.
